For the month of December second graders will be exploring the customs and traditions of five different winter holidays celebrated around the world; Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Three Kings' Day, and the Chinese New Year. We will be diving into fiction and nonfiction texts to examine how different stories and traditions from different cultures can convey similar messages and the spirit of the season. We hope to cultivate a community in which the students learn to appreciate and respect cultural differences.
