New Types of Nouns!
After a quick review of NOUNS, we spent the past two weeks studying COLLECTIVE NOUNS. Ask your child about them! We are now beginning to explore IRREGULAR PLURAL NOUNS. We started with a sort on Friday. Next week we will play "Go Fish" and "I Have, Who Has?" At that point, they will have explored and discovered what we are studying through these games and we will then take notes on it to solidify our learning! |
Text to Text Connections
Good readers make connections. We often make Text-to-Self Connections, and now we are noticing that good readers make connections to other books while they are reading (Text-to-Text Connection). To practice this, I have been reading books aloud that partner with similar themes. Our most recent was Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers and Leonardo the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems. The class thought these two pictures summed up the connection we made: both books have a character that is lonely and finds an unlikely friend. Go ahead, you can say, "Awwww...." We all did.
